What actually leaves your device
1 · Your browser
Your PDF is opened and read locally. Only the plain text of each page is extracted — the file itself never uploads.
2 · Hidden Ink server
Text passes through in memory only. Stateless by design: no document database, no logs of your content, nothing written to disk.
3 · Claude (Anthropic)
Claude analyzes the text and returns suggestions. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models.
4 · Back to you
Suggestions appear as boxes you approve or dismiss. Redaction and export happen in your browser — the result never touches a server.

AI only runs when you choose the paid mode and press Go. Manual redaction is 100% in-browser — for your most sensitive documents, nothing needs to leave your device at all.
Encrypted, text-only transfer
Only extracted text — never your file — is sent, always over an encrypted (TLS) connection, in small staged batches. We store nothing, and your text is never used to train AI models.
You have the final say
Claude suggests; you decide. Nothing is redacted until you approve it, and every export includes a tamper-evident audit report — a hash-chained, server-anchored timeline of exactly when the document was opened, each redaction applied, how long you reviewed, and when it was exported.
