How to use

Redact a PDF in five steps.

Everything happens in your browser — your documents are never uploaded to a server. Here's the full flow, from upload to a safely redacted export.

Step 1

Upload your PDF(s)

Open the editor and drop in one or many PDFs (up to 100MB and 200 pages each). Scanned or photographed documents work too — on-device OCR reads them during AI redaction. Nothing is uploaded automatically.

Step 2

Choose Manual (free) or AI-assisted

A prompt asks how you want to work. Manual redaction is free forever — draw boxes over anything sensitive, then move, resize (drag the corner handles) or delete them until you're happy. AI-assisted mode finds sensitive information for you.

Step 3

If AI: pay once, press Go

Payment opens in a popup so your document stays loaded. Once confirmed you get a purchase code — save it, it restores your purchase if you close your browser. Press Go and Claude scans your pages in staged chunks, flagging account numbers, IDs, transactions and more. Pick a preset like Proof of Address (keeps your name and address visible) or Transactions only. Not happy with the result? One re-run is included.

Step 4

Review every suggestion

AI suggestions appear as amber boxes — click one to accept it, or dismiss it with ×. Scroll to the end of the document to unlock Accept All. You always have the final say; nothing is redacted without your review.

Step 5

Export — permanently redacted

Redactions are burned into the page pixels, not layered on top, so they can't be undone or copied out. Keep the "Remove metadata" tick on (free, in both manual and paid modes) to also strip the document's hidden properties — author, title, subject, keywords and creation timestamps. You also get a branded PDF audit report of what was detected, accepted and dismissed. Batches download as a single ZIP.

The page count is pooled over your whole batch, not per file. Upload 50 one-page bank statements in a single batch and redact them all with AI for one $2.99 payment. Beyond 50 combined pages it's just +$1 for every extra 25 pages.

What leaves your device?

Manual mode: nothing, ever. AI mode: only extracted text — never your file — is sent over an encrypted connection. We store nothing, and your text is never used to train AI models.
